Company Profile

In 1977 the company was founded first as a single enterprise, since 1994 it has been running under the name of Institute of Materialprüfung Glörfeld GmbH (IMG).

We are an independent and neutral company offering for the chemical analysis. Our analyses are mainly focussed on the analysis of accurate content of precious metals such as gold (Au), silver (Ag), platinum group metals (PGMs)* as well as important base metals such as copper (Cu), nickel (Ni), tin (Sn), zinc (Zn), lead (Pb), chromium (Cr), iron (Fe), cobalt (Co), antimony (Sb), arsenic (As), bismuth (Bi), tantalum (Ta), cadmium (Cd), molybdenum (Mo), etc.. *PGMs comprise platinum (Pt), palladium (Pd), rhodium (Rh), iridium (Ir), ruthenium (Ru), Rhenium (Re) and osmium (Os).

We also offer the analysis of the rare earth metals such as lanthanum (La), cerium (Ce), samarium (Sm), neodymium (Nd), etc.

Coatings and other metals that are difficult to dissolved are analysed using GDMS (Glow Discharge Mass Spectrometry) at our sister company Elmaspecs GmbH: www.elmaspecs.de in Willich.

We mainly work for industry, metal and raw material tradings, recycling companies as well as for research institutes, universities and private customers.

The main analysis areas are: Chemical analysis of ores, metals, raw and recycling materials. If you have raw or semi-prepared raw materials for the analysis, we can prepare your samples at our sample preparation unit to produce samples for the analysis.

Professional qualifications

Chem), is publicly appointed as sworn expert by the regional Chamber of Industrie and Commerce (IHK) for chemical analysis in commercial purposes. He is a personal member of the Gesellschaft Deutscher Metallhütten- und Bergleute (GDMB).

Under his supervision we are able to run routine and umpire analyses of the elements Au, Ag, Pt, Pd, Rh, Ir, Ru and Cu.

We are a member of the German Association of Metallurgy and Miners (GDMB), where we participate in the working groups “Copper”, “Precious Metals” and “Special Materials” of the committee of chemists in

the production of certified reference materials and
the development of new analytical methods.

Every year we regularly participate in national and international round robin tests.
Accordingly other activities are carried out for industry, private sector and for courts based on our experience.
We are also available for consultation.
